Fall 2010 Fashion Week Trend: Fantastic Hats
Fantastic Hats at Behnaz Sarafpour, Marc by Marc Jacobs, and Charlotte Ronson.
Style tip? What’s the easiest way to transform your look? One word: accessories. And the accessory of choice this season appears to be the hat. Designers used fantastic hats as a way to transport this season’s looks to other places - whether it’s decades past (as at Behnaz Sarafpour), mythology (a la Charlotte Ronson’s Arabian Nights), or Marc by Marc Jacobs’ modern cowboy.
Fall 2010 Fashion Week Trend: Purple
Purple at Erin Fetherston, Phillip Lim 3.1, and Luca Luca.
Style tip? Purple is coming in all shapes, sizes, and hues this season. Try, if you dare, a bright shiny purple, a la Phillip Lim’s dashing cocktail dress. Or opt for a softer shade of purple, as at Luca Luca and Erin Fetherston. Whatever the shade, purple looks positively polished on simple silhouettes. Just let the color shine.
Fall 2010 Fashion Week Trend Return of the 1970s
Return of the 1970s at Marc Jacobs, Vena Cava, and Peter Som.
Style tip? It may be 2010, but it felt like the year 1970 on the runways. Bohemian prints, maxi dresses, and flowing vests and sashes all graced the runways. How to get the look of the 1970s, but circa 2010? Make maxi dresses and bohemian dresses look modern with muted, more neutral colors. And accent your look with a bold lip color for a look that’s less au naturel and more modern sophisticate.
Parkas at Cynthia Steffe, Vena Cava, and Cynthia Rowley.
Style tip? What item of clothing can complement a dress just as well as a tee and jeans? The parka, that’s what. Parkas are the jacket of choice to pair with both casual and more formal outfits. We love the parka for its versatility and its comfort - plus, the hood and the extra pockets make it as practical as it is fashionable. Wear your oversized parka with slim fit clothes for a classic big-over-small look.
Lingerie & Lace at Cynthia Steffe, Alexander Wang, and Herve Leger.
Style tip? In 1990, Madonna introduced the world to underwear as outerwear with her iconic cone bra. Twenty years later, lingerie is still inspiring the world of sportswear. Case in point? Alexander Wang’s lingerie-meets-tailored suit look, which mixes feminine lace with masculine fabrications and tailoring. Then again, the lingerie influence need not be quite that overt. Cynthia Steffe suggested frilly underthings with a fitted ivory dress full of tiny pleats. And Herve Leger’s body conscious look merely outlined the bodice and skirt suggestively. How to wear lingerie & lace inspired looks in real life? We love the mix of masculine and feminine - a lacy cami under a structured blazer, a slip-type skirt with something more tailored up top. The key is to suggest rather than to show.

Black
Bridesmaid dresses in black will be very popular for 2010. The advantages of wearing black is that
- it suits most skin types and is the most flattering of colours regardless of body shape.
- Since the economic downturn, black has become a popular colour mainly because it can be worn time and again making it a perfect colour choice for brides that want to give their girls something that won't end up at the back of the closet.
- If black is too severe for you, other monotone shades like grey and brown are very "in" too.

Audrey Hepburn’s real wedding dress
I’m not actually the biggest Audrey Hepburn fan but you can’t deny that she’s a timeless style icon that so many women look up to. Today, we’re taking one of her dresses into centerstage: the Givenchy wedding dress she wore in the 1954 flick Sabrina. I’m not sure if this was the first wedding dress to make use of black lace embellishments, but that’s just the thing with Audrey Hepburn: she can take something old and wear it with so much grace, its style and class factor instantly transcends time. Incidentally, Audrey Hepburn’s real wedding dress was far simpler and has a more interesting story to tell.
Since Sabrina, a lot of designers took their cue from Audrey Hepburn and started including black lace embellishments into their white wedding dresses. Check out these some Audrey Hepburn-inspired wedding dresses for ideas on how to incorporate elements from the iconic Sabrina dress onto your wedding dress.

The Perfect Prom Dress
What type of prom dress should I look for if I’m not that tall? Many girls that aren’t so tall (like me) are going toward fitted silhouettes and flirty, little short dresses. These prom dresses come in an array of fun colors. Remember, you got to use what you got! Flaunt all your assets!
Helpful tips to finding the perfect prom dress:
Now keep in mind, any dress can look great on the hanger but remember you have to purchase a style and look that goes with your height, body shape, hair and skin coloring. Don't buy into the belief that there are a limited number of colors that work for you; instead, be your own best fashion designer and hold up dresses to your face to see which ones bring out your skin tones, eyes and hair the best.
Warm colors like fire engine red and coral look best on brunettes with darker coloring; cool pastels work for blondes. But there are a myriad of colors -- metallic gold and silver included -- that work for all colorings.
If you're not sure what type of prom dress style to go with for the prom drag a friend to a store and get a second opinion while trying on lots of colors to see which ones compliment your look best.
Learn to embrace your body, too. If you aren't comfortable in curve-hugging dresses because of too much jiggle, then try a body slimmer underneath for more control.
Everyone has at least one great asset, even if it's something as simple as thick hair, white teeth or nice legs.
Dress to Party
Homecoming is a great time to have a little fun with your style. Prom is the night everyone looks forward to, but really, homecoming gives you the opportunity to show your personality. Homecoming dresses give you the opportunity to look flashy or formal, glamorous or fun. Accessories can give you even more options. Getting together with your friends to shop for homecoming dresses will give you a good idea of what looks good on you, and what you should accessorize with. Whether you want to be the bell of the ball, or the life of the party, dressing for homecoming with your friends will build memories for the rest of your life.
You want your homecoming dress to be a hit, so you first need to make sure you’re wearing the right kind. Determine if your homecoming will be a semi-formal or a formal affair. For a semi-formal homecoming, you can choose a simple black dress or something bright and floral. Try to decide what your body style and personal style are. Your homecoming dress should highlight your best features. Accessories can make you stand out from the crowd at a semi-formal homecoming. Look for unique accessories like funky shoes or a pretty scarf to spice up your look. Long beaded necklaces and dangling earrings are great for semi-formal outfits to make them look more glamorous.
If your homecoming is formal, you get to really have some fun. For formal dress shopping, you should probably set a budget before you leave to shop. If you have prom this year as well, you will want to save most of your budget for that night. Let your budget be your guide, don’t go over it no matter what. Only look at dresses that fit in your budget with room for accessories. Formal dresses can be sleek and sassy or fun and festive. Try to find something that suits your body style and highlights your best features. You will want a dress that shows your personality and sets you apart from everyone else. Try looking for your dress away from your hometown. If you shop a little further away, you’re more likely to find something no one else will have. Whether your dress is semi-formal or formal, color plays a big part in how it looks on you. You should pick a color that suits your skin tone. Colors play a big role in mood, so choosing the right color for you will set the tone for the evening. Accessories for a formal dress may include high heels, or a sparkly necklace. Tiaras are a fun hair accessory that will make you stand out. A glamorous shawl or satin gloves bring a little Hollywood to your look.
Having fun getting ready for your homecoming is the most important thing. Homecoming is an opportunity to strut your stuff and let everyone see how classy you can be. Finding the right dress will determine the rest of your look. With the perfect accessories, a sleek up-do, and great makeup, you will feel like the queen for your homecoming.Flower Girl Dress for Your Wedding
